Joe (Jake) Aesque – Weber City, VA

Joe Davis "Jake" Aesque, 85, Weber City, VA entered into rest, Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Greystone Health Care, Blountville, TN.

Joe was born in Scott County, Virginia on September 24, 1926 to the late George and Dracy Freeman Aesque.

He was born with the ability to hear and speak but at the age of 2 mysteriously lost his hearing. He lived all his life in Scott County, VA and graduated from the Tennessee School for the deaf at Knoxville, TN in 1949, an accomplishment of which he was so proud.

He loved to cook. His specialties were fresh vegetables from the garden and angel food cake. He enjoyed life. Joe was a Born-Again Christian and of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, his sisters, Kathleen (Susie) Aesque Donahue and Rhogene Aesque Puckett preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving niece, Brenda Ellis; special caregiver and friend, Bryon Yankee; and longtime friend and interpreter, Betty Spears Hall.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 17, 2012 in the Juanita S Falin Memorial Chapel of the Gate City Funeral Home with Rev. Larry V. DeVault officiating.

Family and friends will meet at 1:00 p.m. at the Morrison Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2019 Chapel Drive, Kingsport, TN 37665 for the graveside service.
