FORT SUMNER, N.M. - Graveside services for Othar L. Thomas, 79, of Earth will be at 3 p.m. (MST) Thursday in Fort Sumner Cemetery with the Rev. Coy Brewer and Brad Freeman officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parsons-Ellis Funeral Home of Earth.
He died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001.
He was born Sept. 19, 1922, in Lamesa and was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a pilot, worked as a mechanic for the Ford dealership and as a security guard. He was a Baptist and had lived in Plains, Kan., and Fort Sumner before moving to Earth in July 2001.
Two sons, Robert George Dickens and Donald Lawson Thomas, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Stephen of Garden City; five daughters, Suzy Grantham of Fayetteville, Ark., Mary Ann Thomas of Phoenix, Ariz., Cathi Freeman of Earth, Debra Hopson of Boise City, Cimmaron Co., OKla, and Nancy Headley of Oklahoma City; one sister; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church, 310 Indiana, Plains, KS 67869.
