Augustus was a son of Edward M. and Blanche Kidwell Coulter. He died several days after a bad car accident that also killed two of his friends. He was survived by his siblings Helen, Kenneth, Ronald, Rosalie, Mildred, James and Pauline, and at least one set of grandparents, Charles and Rosa Main Coulter. He had been working as a farm laborer. He was a member of the Brownsville Church of the Brethren.
