William was the son of Jacob and Louise Jaggi Tritten of Switzerland. William had emigrated from Switzerland to North Bay, NY about 1911-1912.

On December 2, 1914, William married Miss Ada Frances Barnes in North Bay, daughter of Smith and Frances Keeler Barnes of North Bay. He was 25 and Ada was 32. They were only married for three months when William falls seriously ill and dies.

William was an efficient cheesemaker in charge of the North Bay limburger cheese factory. He was well liked by all!

Besides his wife Ada, William was survived by his mother and a brother in Switzerland as well as an aunt and/or uncle in both Glenmore, NY and Amsterdam, NY. William's death is corroborated in Mrs. Ada Tritten's marriage certificate to John Peter Fox. Ada and John marry on 19 Jul 1919 in Vienna, Oneida, New York, are found in the 1920 U.S. census living in Vienna, and then Ada seems to disappear from the available sources. Her death date and last resting place are unknown. John at some point moves to Omaha, Nebraska by 1926, remarries there in 1930, and lives in Omaha until his death in 1957.

Ada buried her husband William with Ada's parents in Section 48, plot 432.
