Jewel Elizabeth Colvin, 91, of Columbia, passed away peacefully Saturday evening surrounded by her family. Born October 6, 1920 in Richland County, she was a daughter of the late Jewel Ashmore Motley and Mattie Elizabeth Daniels. She was member of Beulah Baptist Church in Hopkins.

Survivors include her daughters, Judy (Howard) Lederfind of Columbia, Carol (Jimmy) Sowers of Columbia, Laura Kinsey of Columbia; Mary (Karl) Outen of Horrell Hill; son, Charles (Gwen) Biggerstaff of Horrell Hill; fourteen grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Biggerstaff; second husband, Robert L. Colvin; daughter, Lois Osborne Biggerstaff and brothers, John, Paul and Marshall Motley.

The funeral service for Mrs. Colvin will be held at 11 o'clock, Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Beulah Baptist Church, 9487 Garners Ferry Road, Hopkins with The Rev. David Spears and The Rev. Howie Lederfind, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10 o'clock. Memorials may be made to Palmetto Health Hospice, P. O. Box 352, Newberry, SC 29108. Shives Funeral Home is assisting the family.
