VIOLA JANE (WILLITS) HINDMAN
Viola was the daughter of Sarah A (Myers) and James Monroe Willits. She was born and raised in New Boston, Mercer County, IL.

She married Daniel Trimbly Hinderman on 9/6/1866 in Mercer County, as his second wife. He was the son of Dr. Andrew and Margaret (Trembly) Hindman and was born in Butler County, Ohio, February 22, 1839. He served in Co I, 17th Illinois Infantry during the Civil War. The History of Mercer County, Illinois, 1882 states he became Captain of his company. The History also states he went into business in New Boston. The 1870 census shows him living in New Boston Town: Daniel Hindman, 31, born Indiana, carpenter; Viola, wife 25, born Illinois; daughter Grace, 2, born Illinois. They also had a son George.

In 1882 Daniel was County Treasurer in Aledo according to the History. In 1895 Viola was residing in Britton, Marshall County, South Dakota.

Daniel died in Nov 1915. Viola is listed in the 1920 as widowed and living with her half brother Fred Willits in New Boston at 146 Locust Street.

Viola died in 1933 at the age of 89 in New Boston, but her death record says she was buried in South Dakota.
