WILLIAM MILLER married ELIZABETH WILSON about 1810. This family lived in York and Chester Districts, South Carolina until the 1850's when they came by covered wagon to Alabama. The family story is that they stopped a while near "Jones Valley", near the present town of Birmingham. By 1860, this family is in Fayette County, Alabama (in the part which would later be Sanford (Lamar)County. It is said that they were on their way to Mississippi, but were so tired from traveling that they settled in Alabama.
In 1850 the MILLER FAMILY is living in Chester District, South Carolina. WILLIAM MILLER is age 59, value of his estate is $1,326, and he is a farmer.
In 1860 the MILLER FAMILY is living in Millport, Fayette County, Alabama. WILLIAM MILLER is age 69, the value of his real estate is $745, the value of his personal estate is $500, and he is a farmer.

WILLIAM MILLER died in Sanford (now Lamar) County, Alabama and is probably buried in the OLD CORINTH CEMETERY.
