Joseph S. Acre, 71, of 210 McCulloh Street, died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 1994, at Sacred Heart Hospital.


Born June 2, 1923, in Frostburg, he was a son of the late Frank Acre and Sarafina (Santore) Acre.


Mr. Acre was a retired employee of Kaiser Refactories and Thermogage.


He was an US Army veteran of WW II and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Farrady Post #24 American Legion, Frostburg Lodge #348 Loyal Order of Moose, Frostburg Council #1442 Knights of Columbus, Frostburg Aerie #1273 Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Frostburg Lodge #470 B.P.O. Elks.


Surviving are his wife, three daughters, one son, two sisters, one brother, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home on Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church.


The interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Members of Farrady Post American Legion will provide military honors at the graveside.


A Christian Wake Service will be held Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.


Members of the Loyal Order of Moose will conduct a memorial service on Thursday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
