Lois Lee Abshier, 92, of Bay City died June 12, 2001 at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.

She was born April 2, 1909 in Ashby, Matagorda County, Texas to the late Pertilla Edward and Beulah Short Lee.

Mrs. Abshier was a very active member of the First United Methodist church, a resident of Bay City since 1955, and a former resident of New Gulf.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, the Pilot Club of Bay City and a Pink Lady with Matagorda General Hospital.

She retired as a supervisor with the Texas Department of Human Resources after 23 years of service.

Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Arnold Alberts of Alvin, Texas, Karen and Julian Williams of Montgomery, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Tut Abshier of Wadsworth; 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Robert Abshier, Sr., by her son, James Robert Abshier, Jr., by three brothers, Clyde, Clarence "Buzz," and Clifford Lee.

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2001, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Crowe officiating.

Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

The family will receive friends at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Thursday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Kim, Dave, Charles, and Mitchell Abshier, J. W. McDonald, Gary and Kenneth Alberts, Steve and Mike Abshier and Bradley and Rodney Williams.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Beth McDonald and Diane Davis.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, or St. Stephen's Society of the First United Methodist Church.
