Miss Dunavant was a graduate of the Fulton Public Schools and William Woods College. She held a B. A. and M. A. degree from the University of Missouri. She did graduate work at Washington University and Universities of Chicago, Colorado, Wyoming and Delaware. She taught for 43 years in the Fulton Public Schools, with history and counseling being her fields. She was awarded the Master Teacher Award by the University of Missouri in 1963.
Miss Dunavant was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma, former president of the Callaway County Historical Society, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fulton.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Browning-Debo Chapel with the Reverend Cecil Culverhouse conducting the services. Burial will be in the Callaway Memorial Gardens cemetery.
