Found in The State 04 July 1920: The remains of Mrs. Ann Bailey, who died in Chester yesterday, will be brought here this morning and laid to rest in Elmwood cemetery. The funeral will be held at the cemetery immediately following the arrival of the 11 o'clock train today. Palbearers who will act are Dr. S. S. Killingsworth, Gustaf Sylvan, Frank Davis, P. H. Lachicotte, Carroll Sims and Charles Tew.

Per her death certificate found on Ancestry.com: she was a daughter of Wm. Humphries and Martha Shafe, both born in Union Co., S. C. She was a widow at the time of her death and her spouse is not named. She died of acute dilitation of the heart contributed by myocardial degeneration. Her death certificate lists her day of death as July 1, 1920 in conflict with her headstone.

In the 1880 US Census for Union, Union SC she is enumerated at Anna Gilliam, age 30, widowed, living with children Robert W., 11 and Ferdinand R., 6 and her mother Martha Humphries, 71.

The Georgia, Deaths Index, 1914-1927 List the parents of Reuben Ferdinand Gilliam, Who died 22 Oct 1923 in Atlanta, as Anne Humphries and Reuben Sims Gilliam.
