She was born August 21, 1911, in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of Mary Goulet and Guy A. Lowe. She had attended Notre Dame Grade School and graduated from McDonell High School, Chippewa Falls, in 1929. She had worked at Schulz Bros. Dime Store, Chippewa Falls, and had retired from the Northern Center for the Developmentally Disabled, Chippewa Falls.
She married Alfred L. Balow, December 10, 1931, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Chippewa Falls. She was a member of Notre Dame Church, the PCCW of Notre Dame and AARP.
Survivors include one daughter Mary L. (Marvin) Schneider, Chippewa Falls; two sons, Alfred G, Lorton, Virginia, Donald L, West Lynn, Oregon; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred in 1983, two sons, Charles and William; her parents; one brother Lloyd "Curly" Lowe, one sister, Jean Hillman.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Chippewa Falls, with Rev. Albert Sonnberger, officiating. Interment will be in Island Lake Cemetery, Rusk County.
