Mamie Mildred Butts, 97, of Cabool was born May 1, 1916 in Upton, Mo. to the late Evert and Grace (Stottlemyer) Varnell. She was called to her heavenly home on Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Kabul Nursing Home with family at her side.

On September 17, 1937, she married Ezra Butts and they shared 60 years of marriage. To this union two children were born, Elster and Charlotte.

Mildred faithfully served her Lord since the time of her salvation at the age of 10. She worked alongside her husband in his ministry doing whatever needed to be done while blessing many people with her beautiful alto voice. Mildred loved her family very much and loved spending time with them. She taught her family little things that turned into big things and strong family values. Most important of all was the assurance that everyone in the family knew the Lord.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Ezra; her parents, Evert and Grace Varnell; three brothers, Carl Varnell, Virgil Varnell and Manord Varnell; one sister, Mable Howell and four siblings that died in infancy. She leaves behind her son, Elster Butts and wife, Grace of Mountain Grove; her daughter, Charlotte Crowe and her husband, Bob of Cabool; five grandchildren, Mike Crowe of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Craig Crowe and his wife, Marilyn of British Columbia, Canada, Harold Butts of Meriden, Wyoming, Karla Swisher and her husband, Jeff of Wentworth, MO and Kirby Butts and wife, Andrea of Cleveland, Texas; 10 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; one sister, Opal Mae Dooty and husband, Al of Oklahoma and numerous other dear family and friends.
