Joseph A. Anderson
Joseph August Anderson, 81, of 259 2nd, died Tuesday night in a local hospital after a short illness.
Mr. Anderson was born Oct. 31, 1884, Ogden, a son of Augustus and Alice Harrop Anderson.
He was married to Viola Purdy in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Jan. 3, 1904.
He had resided in Ogden all his life and was engaged in home construction, in the local area for the past 50 years.
He was a member of the first Ogden Volunteer Fire Department nearly 60 years aqo. His name is one of 300 engraved on a plaque and bronze bell at the Ogden Fire Station at 4th and Washington.
He was a member of the LDS Fifteenth Ward High Priest Quorum and had been active since its organization.
Surviving are his widow, three sons and two daughters, Arthur J. Anderson, Susanville, Calif.; Clifford W. Anderson, Duarte, Calif.; Mrs. J. Bruce (Thelma) Shields, Monrovia, Calif.; Mrs. Arden R.. (Hazel) Greenwood and Floyd P. Anderson, both of Ogden; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. John A. (Edith) Way, Ogden.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p. m. in the Myers Mortuary with Bishop Menno Penner of the Fifteenth Ward officiating.
Friends" may call at the mortuary Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday prior to services.
Burial will be in Ogden City Cemetery,
