The death of Albert Richter at Mercy Hospital, Dubuque, Friday evening was a great shock to this community.
Albert was taken ill last Monday evening after a day's work on his farm in the town of Patch Grove. The attack quickly developed into a complicated case of pneumonia, which grew rapidly worse. Friday he was rushed to Dubuque, in the hope that something could be done for him in that city; but he was beyond help, and passed away that evening.
Albert was forty years of age Sept. 25, 1923. He was born in the town of Potosi, and with his Parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Richter came to this community when a small boy.
He was united in marriage with Catherine Mary Vogt April 28, 1908, and to this union were born seven children - Florence, Nellie, Sylvia, Anna, Celestine, Dorothy and Mary.
They followed farming as a vocation, and were prospering on the Munson farm, which they bought several years ago. Albert was enjoying his usual health and reasonably could look forward to many years of useful life with his wife and interesting young family. The fatal illness came like a bolt from a clear sky, and all the plans of yesterday are changed.
Mr. Richter is survived by his widow and children, father, brother Herman, and sister Mrs. Frank Myers. His mother died January 14, 1921. Many other relatives and a host of friends mourn the loss of a good man. He was a kind and loving husband and father, and a good neighbor.
Funeral services were held from the home to St. Mary's church in this city. Tuesday morning, Rev. L.C. Pollack officiating. A large congregation attended and assisted in the last sad rites. Interment occurred in the cemetery on the hill. The sorrowing family and relatives have the sincere sympathy of the community.
The kind neighbors and friends who extended aid and sympathy to us in our bereavement have our heartfelt thanks - Mrs. Albert Richter and Family.
