NOTES ON HER PARENTS

Cornelius Vanover 5 (son of Cornelius 4) was born 1760-1765, in Sussex County, New Jersey.

He came south with his father in the 1780's.
He probably married in western North Carolina.

He married Abby Easterd who was born 1760-1770. She is said to have been Cherokee.

Several Eastern Cherokee Applications of Catherine Vanover) Perry's descendants state that Abby Easterd was a full-blooded Cherokee Indian.

She apparently died between 1840 and 1850 when she disappears from the census records.

Cornelius Vanover appears in the census records of Ashe County, North Carolina, for the years 1810, 1820, and 1830.

He died after February 1833, and apparently before the 1840 census was taken.

Cornelius Vanover was still living in February 1833 (February Term 1833 of the Ashe County, North Carolina Court)

Most of the children from this marriage migrated westward.
