He was born June 20, 1897 in Sterling Township, the son of John A. and Emma B. Deyo Zigler. He was married Feb. 25, 1920 to Nellie E. Coats in Sterling, where they resided their entire life. He was employed at the Russell, Burdsall and Ward Bolt and Nut Co. and was a machine operator 31 years, retiring in 1957. Following retirement, he was engaged in the gasoline business with a son.
Survivors include his widow, Nell; three daughters, Mrs. Glen (Beverly) Longanecker, Mrs. William (Phyllis) Lendman and Mrs. Andrew (Kay) Thayer, all of Sterling; four sons, Barney, Westland, Mich., Norval and Gale (Mike), Sterling; and James R., Tampico; a brother, John, Rockford; 23 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Allen Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Hanson, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
A memorial has been established to the Heart Fund.
