James Edward Hughes, age 67, of Knoxville, passed away, peacefully on August 12, 2012 surrounded by his loving family and friends. James was born and raised in Halls and was respected member of Dante Baptist Church. He began working at a very young age at Lonnie Auto trim, advancing to management and eventually becoming the successful business owner of the same establishment. He had a great appreciation of the outdoors, and enjoyed camping and fishing with his friends and family. He especially enjoyed the tranquil walks around his favorite lake with his wife Barbara. James was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be missed every day. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and June Hughes and brothers Mark and Curtis Hughes. Survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Ellen Hughes, sister Linda Whitson, children, Pam Ballew, Lisa Bell and husband, Ricky, Dewight Hughes, step children, Steven and Mark Meade, 7 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Service, 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Dante Baptist Church, Rev. Phillip Murphy officiating. Family and friends will meet, 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City and proceed to Greenwood Cemetery for interment at 11:30 a.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Dante Baptist Church.
