BEDFORD — Robert L. "Katie" Abel, 75, of Bedford, died Tuesday at his residence.
Born Sept. 17, 1923, in Lawrence County, he was the son of A.J. and Stella (Joliff) Abel. He was a meat cutter and retired in 1976 from the Jay C store. He was a graduate of Bedford High School and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Diane Taylor of Bedford; two sons, Bob Abel and John Abel, both of Bedford; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte (Fiddler) Abel, in 1997; three brothers, Bernard Abel, Frank Abel and Joe Abel; and two sisters, Fern Anderson and Peg Snider.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Bedford with the Rev. Bernard Cox officiating.
Friends may call 3-8 p.m. today at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford.
