Mrs. Johanna Madsen was born in Soleur, Norway, Feb. 26, 1874, and came to America in June, 1892. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith before coming to this country. On Oct. 24, 1893 she was united in marriage to Christopher Madsen.

To this union eleven children were born. Her husband and two daughters preceded her in death. He husband in 1935, daughters Florence Carlson in 1934 and Carrie Rosenberry, 1947.

Those left to mourn her departure are seven daughters, and three sons: Clara Olson, Myrtle Pearson, Arlington; Emma Saaranen, Castlewood; Cora McIntire, Fulda, MN., Mae Dahl, Cornell, IA, Arnold, Arlington, Floyd, Norwalk, CA; Raymond, Estelline, and sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren and four sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. Madsen suffered a heart attach on May 4 of this year and after a lingering illness of six months passed away at 1 o’clock, Oct. 25, at the age of 77 years, seven months and 29 days. Pallbearers were five of her grandsons: Russell and Lowell Rosenberry, Mitchell Thompson, Dalton Dahl, Dean McIntire and Louie Peterson, a grand son-in-law.
