BERNADINA SOPHIE LOUISE KRUCKENBERG
The departed is Bernadina Sophie Louise Kruckenberg She was born on the 21ht day of October, 1870. at Tipton, Cedar County, Iowa, being a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christ Dorman She renewed her Baptismal covenant on the day of her confirmation in the year 1884, being confirmed by the Rev Brammer After spending her early youth in the eastern part of Iowa, she came to this county in the year 1890, locating in Harrison township.
On the 9th day of April in the year 1891, she was united in marriage with Henry Kruckenberg. During their entire wedded life Mr. and Mrs. Kruckenberg lived in this county with the exception of one year during which they resided at Hartley. On the first day of November, 1933, the Lord called her husband from her side. Since that time the now departed made her home with her children, where in her well-nigh helpless condition she was given the best of care and attention.
The Kruckenberg union was blessed with six children, one of whom died in early life. During the last years of her life the deceased was in failing health She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carl Hemmig, with whom she had made her home during the greater part of the evening of her life, early Saturday morning, March 26, thus reaching the age of 67 years, 5 months and 5 days. She leaves to mourn her death her five children August, of May City, Christ and Mrs. Carl Hemmig, of Hartley, Mrs. Otto Holle of Worthington, Minn., and Mrs. Ed Peters, Hartley, two sisters Mrs. Augusta Hesebeck of Ocheyedan, and Mrs. August Glade of Hartley, four brothers Fred of Mountain Lake, Minn., Henry of Devils Lake, Minn , Christ and Edwin of Melvin She also leaves 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were held at the home and at the May City church Monday afternoon with Rev Boye, pastor, officiating.
Interment was made in the May City cemetery.
G I Foley had charge of the funeral.
Those from out-of-town who came to attend the funeral were Miss Minnie Dorman and Mrs. Carl Kroemer, of Lowden, Mrs. Lena Kruckenberg and grandson, Donald, Emmett Kruckenberg and John Kruckenberg. of Ridott, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Siege, of Maurice, Mrs. Caroline Nieting and son Henry, of Pomeroy.
