Eula Bernice Shavers Bolton was born November 9, 1914, in Gatesville, Texas. The family moved and settled in Longview, Texas, when Mrs. Bolton was six years old. Mrs. Bolton taught in Longview ISD for 43 years. Mrs. Bolton graduated from Longview Colored High School and went on to attend Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree and Master's degree. She completed additional coursework from Bishop College and Wiley College in Marshall, Texas, as well as East Texas State University, Commerce, Texas, and the University of Texas, Austin, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Addie Mae Shavers; one brother, Maurice Shavers; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Earkie Lee Moss and Eddie B. Moss (John).
She passed away Friday, August 3, 2012, at Summer Meadows Nursing Home.
Services for Eula Bernice Shavers Bolton, 97, of Longview, will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2012, at Wesley-McCabe United Methodist Church with Pastor Virginia Wall officiating.
