Obituary

At his home near Blackwater, John Fox Clark aged 77 years, died Thrusday, Feb 9, 1899 of grip. the aged gentleman was the eldest brother of the late Samuel Clark who died about a year ago at his home, near Herndon, and an uncle of Joe P. Evans of this city (Marshall). Born Jan. 10, 1822, in Kentucky; married Nancy Tomlinson, who died May 4, 1855.

Three children survive the departed: Mrs. Susie Miles of Cooper County, Benjamin Clark and Mrs. Mary Cunningham.

The funeral took place Friday at Peninsula Church of which he was a member. For a great many years the deceased was a Baptist minister and an earnest consecrated worker in the Master's cause, but for some time past his extreme age and feebleness has hindered him from active service.
