Joseph E. Wotruba, 83, of 1894? Maple St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly early Tuesday morning, Sept. 4, at home.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo J. Schmitt will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Wotruba was born July 11, 1896, at Maribel, son of the late Jacob and Ellen Fagen Wotruba. He was reared and educated at Maribel, moving to Manitowoc in 1925, residing here since. He married Clara Joel Oct. 27, 1924, at St. Wendel Catholic Church, Cleveland. He had been employed with Pauly and Pauly Cheese Company and later for many years with Mirro Corporation, retiring in 1963. Mrs. Wotruba preceded him in death Sept. 22, 1965. He was a member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church and a former member of the Holy Name Society of the church.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Bette of Athelstane, Gordon and Mary Ann and Fred and Eunice of Manitowoc; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Elmer Duenkel and Mary Lou and Ronald Ratajczak of Manitowoc; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Anna Wotruba of Manitowoc, 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A daughter, Kathleen, a granddaughter, Kim Wotruba, and two brothers preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, where a parish prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m.
