JACOB WOTRUBA
(1862 - 1912)

Notes From Rosecrans:
On Monday evening, August 5th, Jacob Watruba (sic) a prominent farmer died at this home as the result of an accident which befell him while threshing in his barn. One of his arms was torn from his body making a wound which resulted in death. He was trying to pull away some pea stalks that were on a pulley and shafting when his sleeve was caught in some way of the shafting and the arm town off at the shoulder before the machine could be stopped. Medical aid was summoned but all efforts failed to save him from the grasp of death.

He was born in Cooperstown some 51 years ago, about 25 years ago he was married to Ellen Fagen whom with three sons survive him.

Mr. Watruba was held in esteem by his many friends who sincerely regret his untimely death and will extend their sympathy to the grief stricken family. He was a true and noble man, a devoted husband and an affectionate father. After a useful life he died as he had lived - honored, trusted and loved.

The funeral will be held at Greenstreet Thursday. Rev. Cipian will officiate with the assistance of several other priests.

We all wish him God-speed on his journey across the dark river.
