Mrs. John Van Serke, 89, formerly of 2007 Washington St., Manitowoc, who had
resided with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Klein of Manitowoc,
died Saturday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc,
and 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, the Rev. John F. Conrad officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The former Helen Kluck was born in 1874(sic) in Bolonia, Wis., daughter of the
late August and Mary Eskire Kluck. She was married to the late John Van Serke
Oct. 29, 1894, at Bolonia. They moved to Manitowoc in 1918, residing here the
remainder of their married life. Mr. Van Serke died Feb. 9, 1958.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Francis Brady and Mrs. Alvin Klein of Manitowoc,
and Mrs. Elmer Becker of Denmark; three sons, Donald Van Serke of Detroit, Edward
Van Serke of Lily, Wis., and Carl Van Serke of Manitowoc; a brother, Joseph Kluck
of Galloway, Wis.; three sisters, Mrs. Albert Sobiesky of Manitowoc, Mr. Margaret
Gray of Wausau, and Mrs. Victor Pehowski of Milwaukee; eight grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren. Four sons, Joseph, Ernest, Philip and Richard Van Serke, also
preceded her in death.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home where the Rosary will be
recited at 8 p.m.
