BROUGHT NEW OF DEATH
Message Received Here To-Day Tells of Demise of Capt. Twitchel
A telegram received in the city to-day announces the death of Capt.
J. M. Twitchel, 3811 Michigan Avenue, Chicago at an early hour this
morning. Capt. Twitchel was a former resident of Manitowoc, having
removed to Chicago but a few years ago. He had been ill but a short
time and relatives here are uninformed as to the disease which caused
his death. He was 48 years of age and surviving relatives are a wife
and two sons, Earl and Lester; one sister, Mrs. Kellog, Columbus, Ohio,
and two half sisters, Mrs. Ray Flint, Jr., of this city and Mrs. Zander
of Kaukauna.
Capt. Twichell is well remembered here and is known to vesselmen in
every section of the country. He was formerly in command of the City
of Fremont and the Peerless sailing from Chicago, owned by Leopold-
Austrian Co. While a resident of this city Capt. Twichel occupied a
home on South Seventh street. Nothing is known here regarding the
funeral arrangements.

The remains of Capt. J.M. Twitchell arrived from Chicago at 4:20 this
afternoon and the funeral party proceeded to Evergreen at once, where
interment was made. Members of the Royal League met the body at the
depot and acted as escort. Rev. Johnston officiated at the grave side.
Many friends were in line.

The remains of Capt. J.M. Twitchell did not arrive in the city yesterday
as stated in the Herald. The fact that the remains would arrive was
telephoned to this office and our informant was misunderstood as to the
time of arrival. The body will be here at 4:20.

resident of Chicago, died there last week after a seven month illness.
He leaves his widow and 2 sons. The body was brought here for burial.
