Glenn Thuerwachter, 84, of 3212 Wildwood Drive, Manitowoc, died Friday morning,
September 11, 1992, at his residence.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Rev.
William Zimmer will officiate with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
He was born January 8, 1908, at Fond Du Lac. He was a graduate of Fond Du Lac
High School with the Class of 1926. He married the former Elaine Wilson,
September 19, 1935, at Fond Du Lac. She preceded him in death May 26, 1986. Mr
Thuerwachter was a lifelong Manitowoc Businessman which included an active role
in the wholesale magazine and newspaper industry. He then pursued the retail
market with the establishment of the (House of Paperbacks) a downtown Manitowoc
book, magazine and card store. He was a member of the Manitowoc Elks Lodge, the
Manitowoc Lions of which he was past president, the Isaac Walton League of
Manitowoc and a member of the Twenty Club of Manitowoc.
Survivors include a son, Glenn W. (Buzz) Thuerwachter of Manitowoc; a daughter
and son-in-law, Kathryn and Charles M. Herman of Manitowoc; a brother and sister-
in-law, William and Adeline Thuerwachter of Texas; two sisters, Ruth Thuerwachter
and Frances Sever both of Florida; three grandchildren, Marc C. Herman of Texas,
Eric M. Herman and his wife, Mary of Michigan, Amy K. Ramminger and her husband,
Richard of Kiel; two great grandchildren, Katie and Matthew Herman of Michigan;
a sister-in-law and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Paul G. Uyette of Arizona; many
nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in
death by two brothers, Roy and Earl.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday at
the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
