DIED:
Frank Svacina, aged 50 years, died Saturday night at his home,
corner Seventh and Commercial streets. His death was due to blood
poisoning. He had been in poor health for some time. He conducted
the Kewaunee House for about 20 years, succeeding his father in
the business. The deceased came to this county with his parents
forty years ago. The family resided for a time near Stangelville,
later in Maple Grove, removing to this city about 35 years ago.
He is survived by his wife and four children, Frank, John, Ella
and Clara, also his father of this city and two brothers, John and
Jacob of Rice Lake, Wis. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon
from the home. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery.

INTOXICATED SALOON-KEEPER MAKES AN ATTACK UPON HIS WIFE.
Frank Svacina, proprietor of the Kewaunee house, was placed under arrest last
Friday night and put in the county jail. Svacina, who is addicted to the cup
that inebriates, had, it is alleged, threatened to kill his wife while he was
under the influence of strong drink.
Svacina was arraigned in municipal court Saturday afternoon on a charge of
assault and battery. He was found guilty and was sentenced to serve a term
of sixty days in the county jail.
