LOUIS G. RAATZ
Louis G. Raatz, 81, of 1859 New York Ave., Manitowoc, was pronounced dead on
arrival at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, after he had been moved there by
police emergency ambulance shortly after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Raatz had fallen
16 feet from a scaffolding from which he had been at work repairing the roof
of a home owned by him at 415 Chicago St., Coroner Dr. Theodore Teitgen
attributed death to a heart attack. Raatz had previously suffered from a heart
condition and sustained only a skinned hand and a slight head cut in the fall.
Funeral services will be at 1:15 p.m. Friday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home,
Manitowoc. The Rev. Gervase Zanotti will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
He was born in the Town of Cato, March 21, 1879, son of the late Gottlieb and
Wilhelmina Schwartz Raatz. He married the former Anna Hrabik Behrendt July 11,
1916, at Manitowoc and the couple located here. He was a painter by trade.
Survivors include his wife; son Robert, at home; daughter, Mrs. Sylvester Endires
of Manitowoc, six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A son William,
and two brothers preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Thursday until the time of
services.
