JOHN PEKAREK
John Pekarek, 81, a former Manitowoc resident, died Monday at Stevens Point
Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Innocents Catholic Church,
Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo Schmitt will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Pekarek was born Sept. 3, 1890, in the Town of Carlton, Kewaunee County,
son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pekarek. He was employed as a carpenter for
Hamann Construction Co. and was a member of Local 849. He served as an infantry
man in World War I. He married Clara Riha Oct. 25, 1919, at Manitowoc. His wife
preceded him in death in 1954. He resided in Manitowoc until 1965 when he moved
to Stevens Point to live with his son.
Survivors include a son, John, of Stevens Point and a granddaughter (Survivor
omitted for privacy.) A son and two brothers preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Schneider-Mittnacht Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 4 p.m.
Wednesday where a Wake service will be held at 8 p.m.
