John Leiker Jr., 62, of 427 N. 10th St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening, Oct. 9, at home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. William Zimmer will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Leiker was born March 10, 1917, in Ness County, Kansas, son of the late John and Appolonia Klaus Leiker.
As a child he moved with his family to Manitowoc, where he attended schools and resided most of his life. During World war II he served with the United States Navy and married Dorothy Oquist Sept. 20, 1938, at Manitowoc.
For the past 20 years, he had been employed with Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Clee and Marie Leiker of Waukesha, James Leiker of Valders, Richard Leiker and John and Judy Leiker of Manitowoc; three brothers, Brother Leo Leiker of Hays, Kansas, and Ben and Harry Leiker of Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Nys of Sheboygan and Mrs. Edith Handl of Manitowoc and two granddaughters, Michelle of Waukesha and Melissa of Manitowoc.
Two brothers, Nick and Dale and a sister, Frances, preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, where a parish vigil service will be at 7 p.m.
