Mr. Leiker was born December 16, 1906 at Catherine, Kansas, son of the late John and Appalonia Klaus Leiker. He was employed at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company, retiring in 1968. He married Viiola A. Dewane, September 12, 1929 at St. James Catholic Church, Cooperstown, Wisconsin. Mr. Leiker was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Viola, six children, Ben Leiker Jr., of White Pine, Michigan, Jacqueline (Richard) Sterne of Key Largo, Florida, John (Zita) Leiker of Centerville, Ohio, Pat (Freda) Leiker of Las Vegas, Nevada, Marilyn (Roger) Berner of Two Rivers, Gloria (Richard) Bratz of Valders; two brothers, Herbert (Olive) Leiker of Manitowoc and “Brother” Leo Keiler of Kansas; a sister, Edith Handl of Manitowoc; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale and John Leiker, a sister, Mary Nys and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Leiker.
Friends may call at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 6 pm to 9 pm Sunday where a prayer service will be at 7:30 pm Sunday led by Rev. Zimmer.
