Charles Kukral Sr., 85, of 1901 Michigan Ave., Manitowoc, died Late Monday
morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc after a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church Chapel,
Manitowoc, the Rev. Vernon Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery.
Mr. Kukral was born Nov. 1, 1876, in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids, son of the
late Frank and Barbara Kukral. He attended Branch elementary schools and had
been employed about 10 years by the old Rahr Malting Co., 10 years by American
Seating Co., and 15 years by Manitowoc Shipbuilding and Boiler Works as a crane
operator. He had been employed as a bridge tender at the 10th Street bridge
until retiring in 1948. He also operated a grocery store at 1901 Michigan Ave.
from 1908 until 1935.
Mr. Kukral married Mary Puls at Rockwood Nov. 28, 1900, and the couple established
residence at Manitowoc. He was a former member of the Royal League and Knights of
Pythias and a former deacon of First Lutheran Church. He was a member of the
Brotherhood of the church.
Surviving are his wife, three sons, Herbert of Gary, Ind., Allan of Chicago and
Charles Jr. of Manitowoc; two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Boeder and Miss Ruth Kukral
of Manitowoc; a brother, Louis, of Denver; a sister, Mrs. Anna Lemke of Milwaukee;
11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Friends may call at Mittnacht Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 3 p.m. Tuesday until
11 a.m. Wednesday when the casket will be moved to the church chapel.
