Delmar B. Hansen, 80, of 855 N. Ninth St., Manitowoc, died Sunday morning at
Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wesley United Methodist Church,
Manitowoc. The Rev. David A. Passet will officiate with burial in Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military graveside rites will be accorded by American Legion
Drews-Bleser Post 88.
Mr. Hansen was born Aug. 22, 1896, at Manitowoc, son of the late Edgar and Ida
Sanderson Hansen. He was educated in Manitowoc Schools, attended Manitowoc
Business College and served in the U.S. Navy during World War I. He married Vera
Pfefforkorn June 28, 1924, at Manitowoc. She preceded him in death in 1971. He
married Grace Kadow Pekarske June 20, 1975. Mr. Hansen was a die setter at Mirro
Aluminum Co., retiring in 1965. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church,
Manitowoc, Masonic Lodge No. 65 F. & A.M., Manitowoc Elks Lodge No. 687, American
Legion Drews-Bleser Post 88 and Manitowoc Senior citizens. He was a member of
American Legion Band and a member of Manitowoc Marine Band for many years. In 1961
he was named Barbershopper of the year. He also was a former secretary of Land of
Lakes District of SPEBSQSA and very active in the Musician Union. Mr. Hansen had
been a former Manitowoc Sixth Ward Alderman for two terms.
Survivors include his wife, Grace, two daughters (Private); five brothers, Robert,
of Milwaukee, R. Vernon, Paul and William, of Manitowoc and Gordon, of Sturgeon
Bay; a sister, Mrs. Clare Promen, of Fond du Lac, five grandsons and a granddaughter.
Six brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 6 to 9 o'clock this Monday
evening until 11 a.m. Tuesday and then at the church until the time of service.
