Arthur H. Franke, 83, of 1334 S. 15th St., died early Sunday morning at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 2 pm Tuesday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. D.L. Stannard will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Franke was born Dec. 6, 1882, son of the late Henry and Augusta Radtke. He married Anna Reindl Nov. 14, 1907 at Milwaukee. They made their home in Manitowoc where he organized the A.H. Franke Co., and manufactured pocket-ware cases and advertising specialties.
His wife died in August, 1937. Mr. Franke was a member of the Men's Garden Club, Izaak Walton League, National Small Business Men's Assn., U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Wisconsin State Chamber of Commerce and Manitowoc Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by three sons, Milton, of Manitowoc, Russel and Arthur Jr., both of Milwaukee; seven daughters, Mrs. Edgar Knutson, Mrs. Silas Pierce, Mrs. Carol Thiel, Mrs. Ray Jagodinski, Mrs. Paul Allen, of Manitowoc, Mrs. G.R. Garberg of Hutchinson, Minn., and Mrs. Harold Boldt, of Minneapolis, Minn.; a brother, Edwin of Myrtlepoint, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Herman Hildebrandt of Duluth, Minn., and Mrs. Gust Klawitter of Goodwin, Mo.; 25 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A daughter, a brother and a sister also preceded him in death. Friends may call at the funeral home until the time of services.
