Carol June (Franke) Thiel, age 97, of Manitowoc, died February 5, 2016 at her residence at River Woods Place, 950 South Rapids Road, Manitowoc. Carol was born on June 28, 1918 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Arthur H. and Anna (Reindl) Franke. Carol attended local area schools and graduated with the class 1936 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Carol worked for Manitowoc Company, Crane Division until her retirement. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, now Lakeshore United Methodist Church, since she was 9 years old. Carol enjoyed cooking, baking and her work at the church. Survivors include one daughter; one son and daughter-in-law; one grandson; two granddaughters; three great-granddaughters; four sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters and five brothers-in-law: Ethel (Ray) Jagodinsky; Lucille Franke; Florence (Edgar) Knutson; Grace (Silas) Pierce; Violet (Robert) Garberg; Jeanette (Harold) Boldt; Marjorie (Paul) Allen; three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Milton (Eleanor) Franke; Russell (Eleanore) Franke; Arthur "Bud" Franke; one son-in-law: Roger Reuther; one daughter-in-law: Rita Thiel. Internment of her cremated remains at Evergreen Cemetery. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory of Manitowoc.
