Eleanor A. 'Ellie' Frank, 76, Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Altoona, died Wednesday at the home after a battle with ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease. She was born in Altoona to John & Eva (Horell) Frank. Survived by four brothers: John (Mary), William (Janet) and Vincent Frank, all of Altoona and Thomas (Anita) Frank of State College; two sisters: Jane Steinbugl of Altoona and Marjorie Frantz of Mechanicsburg; a dear aunt, Catherine Gehl; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother, Walter Frank. Ellie was a 1954 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and retired from Ward Trucking Co. of Altoona with 45+ years of service. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister of Communion. She served as a sacristan for many years, where she worked closely with the pastors, especially Monsignor Timothy Stein. She was also a former president of Christian Mothers. Ellie's last few months were spent as a resident of Garvey Manor. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. today and 8-9:15 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Stevens Mortuary, 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altoona. Committal, St. Mary's Cemetery.
