Wayne "Pete" Allen, 77, of Oconee, died Thursday, August 9, 2012 in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur. He was born September 17, 1934 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of James Thomas & Edna (Whitrock) Allen. Pete was a graduate of Pana Township High School, and lived in the Pana & Oconee areas his entire life, except while serving in the U.S. Army. He made his living as a farmer, and was a member of the Oconee Baptist Church; 50 years member of the Oconee Masonic Lodge #392 AF&AM; Roy Ireland Post #317 American Legion, Oconee; Oconee Mound Cemetery board for several years; Montgomery County Farm Bureau; past member of the Pana School Board; & past member of the Shelby County Conservation Board.
Wayne "Pete" Allen and Frances Dudzik were united in marriage on October 23, 1955 in St. John's E & R Church, Pana.
He is survived by his wife: Frances Allen, Oconee, IL; children: Frances McCaslin & husband Greg, Decatur, IL; Kathy Coffey & husband Leon, Taylorville, IL; Nancy Rudow & husband Bill, Pana, IL; Paul Allen, Oconee, IL; Beth Johanson & husband Tim, Bartlett, IL; and Becky Michael & husband Mark, Oconee, IL; 11 grandchildren: Wesley Donaldson, Ryan Donaldson, Valerie Coffey, Jacob Coffey, Jessica Ahrens, Kassie Rudow, Katlyn Allen, Paul Allen, Jr., Grant Allen, Allen Johanson, Hanna Michael; 1 great grandchild: Lincoln Coffey; and sister: Una Dunbar & husband Dean, Glen Allen, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Carl, Joe, Alfred, Lester, Keith, & Coy; sisters: Marian Miller, Lois Hayward, Geneva Kirkham, & Irene Camden.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 13, 2012 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Robert Evaul officiating. Burial will be in Oconee Mound Cemetery with graveside military rites by Roy Ireland Post #317 American Legion, Oconee. Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. in the funeral home with Masonic rites by Oconee Masonic Lodge #392 AF&AM at 5:00 p.m.
