Granville R. "Randy" Billingsley left with his Lord on Sunday, June 27, 2004. He was 84 years old.

The eldest son of Elliott R. and Leone Wood Billingsley, he was born March 24, 1920 in Kirkland. In 1950, he graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelors degree in Architecture and Engineering. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and was a prisoner of war in Germany. He was a resident of Lubbock and member of the Broadway Church of Christ since 1938.

He married Julia Wilbanks Jan.12, 1946 in Lubbock. An award-winning architect and engineer, he was a partner in the firm of Billingsley & Stracener for 53 years. His designs include: Hodges Community Center, Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, numerous churches, schools and commercial projects throughout the Southwest. Randy Billingsley was past president of the Lubbock Junior Chamber of Commerce, past president and charter member of the Lubbock Chapter of the American Institute of Architects .

In addition, he was a former member of the Southwest Lubbock Development Board, the Texas Society of Professional Engineers, the International Association of Lions Clubs and the Hillcrest Country Club.

Survivors include his wife, Julia W. Billingsley of Lubbock; children, Dr. William R. Billingsley of Fort Worth, Gary B. Billingsley and wife, Jane, of Bedford, and Sharon Billingsley Shaw and husband, Jim, of Lubbock; five grandsons, Jeremy B. Hill and wife, Christine, of Mountlake Terrace, Wash., Andrew R. Billingsley of Austin, Jon B. Billingsley of Bedford, Alexander F. Shaw and Daniel R. Shaw, both of Lubbock; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua B. Hill and Cailin G. Hill, both of Mountlake Terrace, Wash.

Services for Randy Billingsley will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at Broadway Church of Christ followed by a committal service at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
