LEONVILLE - A Mass of Christian Burial for Thelma D. Stelly, age 92, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2012, in the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville, La., followed by interment in the church cemetery. The Reverend Ken Domingue will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial.
Mrs. Stelly, a resident of Arnaudville, La., died on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at her residence in Arnaudville, La.
Thelma enjoyed gardening, was an excellent bread maker and was a wonderful mother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her sons, Joseph M. "Booby" Stelly and wife, Ethel, of Leonville, La.; David W. Stelly and wife, Angie, of Ville Platte, La.; her daughters, Marie S. Guillory and husband, Peter, of Leonville, La.; Thelma A. M. Stelly and husband, Glen, of Arnaudville, La.; Vivian Moreau and husband, Marshall, of Opelousas, La.; Sandra Wyble and husband, Karlen, of Arnaudville, La.; Connie Stelly of Arnaudville, La.; her brothers, Joseph "J.A." Devillier of Arnaudville, La. and Frank E. Devillier of Marrero, La. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin Stelly; her son, Eugene (Tommy) Stelly; her granddaughter, Melanie Guillory; her sisters, Alma Laviolette, Helen Kimball, Augustine LaHaye, Mae Ruth Faul and Lucile Bordelon.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, beginning on Thursday, March 1, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. (open all night) until service time at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
