- LOLA McDONALD PEER HUMPHRIES STEELE MERRILL -

Lola McDonald Steele Merrill, age 91 of Payson, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Parkway Health Center in Payson.

She was born May 16, 1921 in Lehi, Utah to Giles and Maud Webb McDonald. She married Thomas Peer and they were sealed in the Manti LDS Temple. He passed away and she married Bill Humphries and they were later divorced. She married George Steele, he preceded her in death. She married Jack Merrill, he also preceded her in death.

Lola was a member of The Daughters of Utah Pioneers; the Red Hats Society and the Empty Nesters. She enjoyed sewing, making bread, cooking, canning, camping and traveling. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a teacher in the Young Women and Primary Organizations and as a Relief Society Visiting Teacher.

We will miss you, Mama, especially your love, your hugs, and your sense of humor that you kept until the end.

Survivors include: two sons and three daughters, Pat (Don) Mickelson, Fairview; Larry Peer, Prosperity, South Carolina; Connie (David) Platt, Payson; Ann (Ken) Hansen, Payson, Brian (Bobbie) Steele, Goshen; son-in-law, Rile Dutton, Monroe, Utah; 16 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; a brother and three sisters, Shirley Ivie, Thermopolis, Wyoming; Virginia Smith, West Valley City; Buzzy McDonald, Winnemucca, Nevada and Billie Richardson, Waurika, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by; a daughter, June Dutton; 2 granddaughters; a great-grandson; her parents; her four husbands; siblings, Leonard, Phyllis, Benjamin, Daniel and Dale.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 13, 2012, 11:00 a.m., in the Knoll Park LDS Chapel, 160 South 460 West, Salem, Utah. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Sunday, August 12, 2012, 6-8:00 p.m. or at the church Monday, 9:45-10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Goshen, Utah Cemetery.

The family would like to express special thanks to the staff, administration and special friends at Parkway Health Center. Lola always believed that if there was a chance to get together with family the opportunity should be seized and Parkway was her family.
