She was the ninth of eleven children of A.J. Dollar and Maude Reynolds Dollar. Her brother, Edward Dollar, of Rome, Ga. survives her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her siblings, Greely Dollar, Eunice Dollar Garner, Bowman Dollar, Madge Dollar Burt, Mary Dollar Vargo, Melissa Dollar, Pauline Dollar Davis, Betty Katherine Dollar and Dick Dollar.
Lorene lived in the Crossville area during childhood and in the Collbran community during her adulthood and 67-year marriage.
Mrs. Killian operated a general store in Collbran and served as Postmaster in the Post Office there while her husband, Gad, served in the U.S. Marines during World War II. For many years she worked in and was manager of Kenwin Department Store in Fort Payne.
Gad and Lorene made many friends after retirement in their business and hobby of buying and selling antiques and collectibles in the old general store building at Collbran.
Lorene had a strong faith and lived out her faith in Christian love, humility and as a caring friend/wife/mother to those who knew her. At the time of her passing, she was the oldest and most senior member of Gravel Hill Baptist Church. (U.S. Highway 11 South)
Visitation with the family will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 5 at Gravel Hill. Funeral services will be conducted there the following day (Monday) at 11 a.m.
Memorial gifts may be made to either the Gravel Hill Cemetery Fund or to the Gravel Hill Baptist Church general fund. c/o Steve or Deborah Burt at 407 18th Street, Fort Payne.
