Funeral services for Arthur C. Apfel, 78, 206 S. Fourth Street, who died of a heart
attack Saturday, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Home for Funerals by
the Rev. Melvon Ireland, Methodist Church minister, and Jim Ewing, Park Avenue
Christian Church pastor. Mrs. Gerald Danskin was vocal soloist, and Mrs. Marlyn
Carlson was organist.
Burial was in Prospect Hill cemetery with the following Methodist Men as
pallbearers: Foy Clark, Justin Fauss, Clarence Beckner, Chet Hammerlun,
Paul Ziegenbein and Paul Goodman.

Mr. Apfel was born 3 April 1880, in Pierce County, and was married in December
1902, to Elsie Lee of Norfolk.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. A.E. Rogers of Sioux Falls and
Mrs. R. C. Diefenderfer of Falls City, two sons, L.L. Apfel of Norfolk and K.K. Apfel
of Fremont; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by his wife.

Arthur C. Apfel Is Found Dead; Rites Tuesday

Arthur C. Apfel, 78, 206 South Fourth Street, was found dead Sunday in his apartment.
Death was caused by a heart attack Saturday. Funeral rites will be conducted at 2 p.m.
Tuesday at the Home for Funerals by the Rev. Melvon Ireland, First Methodist Church
minister, and Jim Ewing, Park Avenue Christian Church minister. Burial will be in
Prospect Hill Cemetery. The body was to lie in state from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at the
Home for Funerals.
Mr. Apfel was born 3 April 1880, in Pierce County, where he received his education.
He spent his entire life in the Pierce and Norfolk communities. He was married to
Elsie Lee of Norfolk in December 1902. They were the parents of two sons and two
daughters.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. A.E. Rogers of Sioux Falls and
Mrs. R.C. Diefenderfer of Falls City; two sons, L.L. Apfel of Norfolk and
K.K. Apfel of Fremont: nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
