Allen Curry was born in Whitley Township, Moultrie County, Illinois near Gays.

Married to Louisa Ellen McDaniel on December 3, 1879 in Effingham, Effingham Co., Illinois.

Five sons, four dying in infancy.

Printer by trade, he worked a number of years on the Stewardson Enterprise, doing all the work himself. In 1883 he started the Windsor Advocate which existed but a few months. Worked quite a while in Sullivan on the Journal, as foreman.

Note: The Enterprise was the first newspaper in Stewardson, Illinois, started in 1878.
