CURWENSVILLE - Gilbert John Johnson, 48, of Naulton Road, Curwensville, died in his home last night.
A son of Hilmer and Olga (Ogren) Johnson, he was born July 14, 1922, at Clearfield.
He was an employe of Harbison-Walker Refractories Inc., and a member of the Curwensville United Methodist Church.
Mr. Johnson was the PIAA wrestling champion at 165 pounds in 1941. Also, hi was a two-time District 6-9 champion.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Smeal; two children, Barbara and John, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hilmer Johnson of Clearfield; and these brothers and sistes: The Rev.Harry Johnson, Marshall, Ill.; Mrs. Norman (Mildred) Eckley, Miss Ruth Johnson and Miss Dorothy Johnson, all of Clearfield; and Mrs. Claude (Emma) Hunsberger, Cambridge Springs.
He was preceded in death by two brothes and one sister.
Funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Russell H. Loninger Funeral Home. The Rev. David E. Kemberling will officiate and interment will follow in Crown Crest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends in the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday and until time of service Friday.
