Ms. Ann White, age 102, 2131 Kingston Hwy., Rome, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2011 the Lord whispered "Peace be Thine" and closed her eyes to rest. Ms. White was born in Floyd County on January 12, 1909 to the late Clarence Chatman and the late Estella Chambers Chatman. She attended Floyd County public schools. After high school, she continued her education at Apex Beauty School in Atlanta, Ga., where she received her license as a Master Cosmetologist. She was a member of Callahan Street Church of Christ where she was a dedicated and faithful member.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a special nephew, Lincoln (Carolyn) Turner; a special niece, Barbara Ann Turner Washington; one sister, Mae Curtis, Rome, GA; one brother, Carl (Delores) Chatman, Rome, GA; a loving niece Gail Stevenson Veal who devoted herself to making aunt Ann's "later days her better days." A host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Oak Hill Church of Christ, 1500 Martha Berry Blvd., Rome GA with Bro. Larry Ware and other ministers officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 11:30 a.m. until the service hour.
