Harold Hemmen, 85, Webster City, died suddenly Sunday, Jan. 27, 1991 at the Hamilton County Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 1:30 p.m. at the Foster Funeral Home, Don Cox and Vernon Spinner officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 until service time Wednesday.

Harold Heye Hemmen, son of Kaos and Lena (Van Langen) Hemmen, was born Jan. 8, 1906 on a farm near Kamrar. He attended rural schools in the Blairsburg area. He married Ruth E. Seabock on March 20, 1928. The couple farmed in the Jewell, Williams and Webster City areas, retiring from farming in 1949, when they moved into Webster City. Mr. Hemmen was later employed part time with Consolidated Freight and Storage Co. in Webster City. He was preceded in death by his wife on Aug. 5, 1968, and he continued to reside in Webster City.

He is survived by a daughter, Wanda (Mrs. Richard) Maier, Ames; two sons, Wayne Hemmen and Ron Hemmen, both of Webster City; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pearl (Mrs. Joe) Klaver, Webster City, Viola Hemmen and Vernice Hemmen, both of rural Blairsburg; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a great-granddaughter, a brother and two sisters.

Mr. Hemmen was a member of a body of believers that held group meetings in homes in the area.
