Mr. Ashby was born in Anderson and spent his entire life here. He was a grinder at the Anderson Knife and Bar and was a member of the West Side Pilgrim Holiness Church.
The body was taken to the Brown and Eckenberg Funeral Home and will be returned to the home of a daughter, Mrs. Leora Pierce, 2216 Nelle St., where friends will be received after 4 p.m. Sunday. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Jackson Park Church of God with the Rev. George Skinner, pastor, officiating. Interment will occur in East Maplewood.
He is survived by the widow, Katherine Marie Ashby; seven children, Mrs. Leora Pierce, Anderson; Mary Ashby, Judith Ann Ashby, Raymond Ashby, Marvin Ashby, Max Ashby and Michael Ashby, all at home; two borthers, Ernest and Conrad Ashby, both of Anderson, and two sisters, Mrs. Helen Boyer and Mrs. Evelyn Crouse, both of Anderson.
