Fred Cunningham war vet dies went to hospital for tonsil operation Frederick Cunningham world war veteran who collapsed during a memorial observance at Gates of Heaven Cemetery Valhalla last year died Saturday morning about 11:45 o'clock at Grasslands Hospital where he had gone for a tonsil operation. he passed his Fiftieth birthday anniversary last November he was born in Albany and came to Peekskill as a boy.he enlisted in the army may 25 1918 served in France as a private first class with company H of the second pioneer infantry and was discharged august 23 1918 Mr Cunningham married Mildred Elizabeth lounsbury 18 years ago seven children all living at home survive: Gertrude May Ethel Elaine William Fredrick Madeline Marie Frank O'Francis Elizabeth and Robert Eugene. the family lives at 521 Harrison avenue. Mr Cunningham was a charter member of cortlandt post no.746 of the vetrans of foreign wars and served as a color bearer from the beginning of the post members of the cortlandt post 746.v.f.w. and the ladies auxiliary will meet at the Riley building at 7:30 o'clock this evening going from there to the Bartel funeral home where v.f.w. services will be conducted at 8 o'clock a military funeral will be a Requiem mass tomorrow morning at 9:30 o'clock at the church of the assumption. burial will be in assumption cemetery besides his wife and children my Cunningham is survived by three brothers frank Cunningham of 23 north division street James Cunningham of 9 Depew street.and Thomas Cunningham of Cold spring and two sisters Mrs Nora bunting. of 431 main street and Jessie Wagner of Lincoln terrace
